This page shows you how to enable and disable debug logging. This is useful for troubleshooting issues as it will provide detailed information on what is happening behind the scenes.

It is recommended to set back to "Information" when the debugging is completed as "Debug" will create larger log files and more load on the server.

Steps to enable debugging

  1. Navigate to the App_Data folder within your EzeScan WebApps installation.
  2. Copy the appsettings.template.json file to appsettings.json (If this already exists then skip this step).
  3. Edit the appsettings.json file in your favorite text editor.

  4. Find the Serilog section of the configuration file.
  5. Change the MinimumLevel from Information to Debug.
  6. Save the file and then restart IIS.
  7. Load the EzeScan WebApps page and then begin your troubleshooting process.
  8. In the \App_Data\Logs folder the log of today's date will now have debug entries.  e.g. [DBG]

Warning!

If your installation is not using Microsoft SQL Server then be sure to also comment out the "apps" section by changing "apps" to"_apps".
